JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Box Office Manager

 

Location: Hillsboro Artists’ Regional Theatre (HART), Hillsboro, OR 97123

 

Job Type: Per show (4 hour shift)

 

Pay: $70 per show (make up to $700 per show)

 

Reports To: HART Artistic Director and Director of Operations & Board Members on Duty

Job Summary: As the Box Office Manager (BOM) at HART Theater, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of ticketing services, the HART BAR, and exceptional service delivery to our patrons. We expect the BOM to be a passionate supporter of HART and will be seen as the representative of the organization, a friendly face that our patrons first meet when they arrive for a performance. The BOM is hired as an independent contractor and will be hired on a per performance basis.  All applicants must have a current OLCC License and be able to lift 50lbs. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Ticketing Operations: Manage all aspects of ticket sales, including online, phone, and in-person transactions. Ensure accuracy in ticket pricing, availability, and seating arrangements.

 

Customer Service: Respond promptly to customer inquiries, complaints, and requests, resolving issues effectively and maintaining a positive customer experience.

 

Box Office Setup/breakdown: Preparing and cleaning box office, concessions setup, HART BAR setup, printing door list, stocking of inventory for HART Bar.  BOM agrees that all cash tips, donations, and cash proceeds go to HART Theatre.

 

Bar Service/Concessions: Setting up and running the HART BAR including baking HART’s famous chocolate chip cookies and selling drinks and snacks to our patrons. The BOM will be responsible for setup and teardown the HART BAR.

 

Reporting and Analysis: Complete close-out reports on ticket sales, bar sales, and concessions/donations. Keep accurate inventory vs. income numbers that match cash payments. Pass any information or feedback received from the patrons to the Artistic Director, or Director of Operations. 

 

Collaboration: Coordinate with the Stage Manager and the Board Member(s) on Duty to determine a start time of the show, communication with backstage and the control booth before and during the performance.

 

Compliance: Ensure compliance with OLCC regulations, safety standards, and HART ticketing policies, maintaining accurate records and documentation as required.

 

Training: All new hires will be considered trainees until they complete 2 training sessions. One session will be with a current Box Office Manager during a performance, and the second training session will be to run a performance with a current Box Office Manager.  After the training is complete, the BOM may schedule shifts for future productions.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Experience in box office management or similar roles w/in the entertainment industry.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-centric approach.

  • Proficiency in ticketing software and MS Office applications.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Reliable and responsive.

  • Baking skills

  • Bartending experience (current OLCC license)

  • Able to lift 50lbs
